The Mantel Method

This is Stone Mantel’s four-phase proprietary research methodology. The Mantel Method involves the following.

Discovering what matters most to your customers.
Defining your brand value proposition.
Testing key indicators of a meaningful brand experience.
Acting on all of the findings, strategies and supporting tools to help you succeed in rolling out a new brand or customer experience, as well as any new products/services you may be introducing as a result of our discoveries.  

In working with Stone Mantel, you’ll find that we use a unique combination of research techniques to address your specific needs. From interactive research workshops to creative, evolved focus groups and interviews, we dig for insights from your customers and other important stakeholders that reflect varying points of reference, deeper and different ways of thinking about the same topic, interactivity and iterative dialogue, as well as introspective input. Combining varying techniques enables us to find patterns and trends in your data that reflect insight from numerous demographic segments. To ensure we’re onto something valid, we triangulate the data, pinpointing what concepts keep coming up in different ways while hitting on the same gold nuggets of information.

1.
Discover

We start with this step to discover the experiences that matter most to your target audience.

We select field research methods and customize them to discover the actual experiences of your target audience. Next, we triangulate our research findings to identify commonalities and develop proven models of your customers’ experiences.

You receive an in-depth description of the new opportunity, a detailed model of how your consumers really behave, and the answers to your tough brand experience questions.

2.
Define

In this step, we define the value proposition for your brand experience.

Using storyboard techniques, we team with you and your target audience to co-create potential innovations or solutions. Using quantitative research, we test the solutions against key indicators.

You receive the quantitative data to determine the value of the opportunity. This data provides the detail to explain, discuss, and decide on the opportunity with other company leaders.

3.
Demonstrate

Here, we test for “time well spent,” the key indicator of a meaningful brand experience.

We develop a pilot program for the best solution (a new brand identity, new product or service, etc.). After the pilot, we develop launch tools to help you launch the solution.

You receive a well-defined launch program to successfully turn the opportunity into reality.

4.
Act

In this step, the rubber meets the road. We help you create the change within your organization that will lead to full implementation.

We create standards, training, workshops, and assessment tools to implement your selected solution. We guide you through the full implementation process – as little or as much as you need us.

You receive the training, tools, and “arms and legs” you need to execute the new opportunity.
